About R-Ripper Raspberries®

It’s a real treat to be able to share a punnet of raspberries – but it’s even better to share delicious raspberries straight from the bush! The problem? Raspberries can take up a lot of space – they spread by runners and need carefully planned stakes and strings to get the best results.

In 2024, PlantNet® is proud to introduce our new range of raspberries – R-Ripper Raspberries®! Within this range is Raspberry Razzle™, Raspberry Golden Glitz™, and Raspberry Rocket™, and each offers a fantastic solution to the dilemma of traditional raspberry growing.

Gardeners with limited space can enjoy the benefits of Raspberry Razzle™ and Rocket™.

Raspberry Razzle™ is a dwarf variety with a mound-like habit, growing up to 75cms tall and 60cms wide. Its’ size makes it the ideal potted raspberry, and the prolific production of berries is the true ‘berry on top’! Razzle™ is the perfect (and dare we say, Australia first) tabletop raspberry plant to delight your guests with at your next barbecue!

Raspberry Rocket™ is an upright raspberry with strong, woody canes. Unlike traditional raspberries, Rocket™ does not require stakes or strings to be held up in its columnar-like shape. This variety can grow to 1.2ms high and 60cms wide, making it the ideal variety for narrow and tight spaces.

Raspberry Rocket™

For gardeners with limited sunlight – shady spots can now be brightened up with our dazzling, gold leaf introduction: Raspberry Golden Glitz™. This variety has stunning naturally golden foliage which is contrasted in summer by its’ prolific rich red raspberries. Golden Glitz™ can grow to 1m high and 75cms wide. Raspberry Golden Glitz™ prefers to grow in part shade – growing this variety in full sun will result the delicate golden leaves to burn and become unattractive (but fruit production will continue!).

R-Ripper Raspberries® Facts:

  • All three varieties can be grown in pots, or in the ground. Read our guide on Growing R-Ripper Raspberries® for further information.
  • Raspberries will produce suckers – to reduce the spread of raspberries, plant them in pots (minimum size 30cm diameter).
  • Raspberry Razzle™ and Golden Glitz™ are primocane varieties, meaning they fruit on 1 year old canes. Prune these varieties to ground level every autumn/winter.
  • Raspberry Rocket™ is a florican variety, meaning it fruits on 2 year old canes. Prune 2 year old canes that have finished fruiting in winter, leaving 1 year old canes for your next harvest.

R-Ripper Raspberries® Availability

The R-Ripper Raspberry® range is available in small batches from Spring 2024 onwards in VIC, SA, and WA. Availability of this range will increase every year – so if you see one, grab one!
