A compact, spur bearing dwarf Granny Smith apple variety, Leprechaun® Dwarf Granny Smith produces full size, high quality Granny Smith apples. It also requires minimal pruning! Leprechaun® is a true dwarf variety as the tree itself is dwarfing (as opposed to the variety being grafted onto a dwarfing rootstock). It requires a pollinator (another variety which flowers at the same time).
The Leprechaun® apple occurred naturally as a branch on a Granny Smith apple tree. The original Granny Smith apple was found in Ryde, NSW, and is a deciduous tree that produces a green, crisp-flesh apple suitable for eating straight from the tree or for cooking the best apple pie ever!
Not recommended for coastal Qld and Northern NSW as winters are not cold enough to produce fruit.
